The University of Michigan men's and women's swimming and diving program will hold a Maize and Blue Intrasquad meet at 5 p.m. Friday (Oct. 18) at Canham Natatorium. Admission is free.
The teams were scheduled to host a two-day double-dual meet, with the No. 11-ranked Michigan women facing No. 2 Virginia and No. 15 Tennessee on Oct. 18-19. However, on Wednesday (Oct. 16), U-M was informed that Virginia and Tennessee were pulling out of the meet.
Team Notes
• Michigan is ranked No. 11 in the first CSCAA/TYR Top 25 poll of the season, released on Oct. 9. [ Rankings ]
• The Wolverines opened the season with a pair of wins over Navy (190-110) and Miami University (229-71) on Sept. 20-21 at Canham Natatorium. [ Recap ]
• Against Navy and Miami, sophomore Maggie MacNeil was back to racing after she won three medals at the FINA World Championships this past summer. She hit an NCAA 'B' time in the 100-yard backstroke (53.50) against Navy and Miami and also finished with a team-best time in the 100-yard freestyle (49.54).
• Making their freshmen debuts against Navy and Miami were Madeleine Bauer, Lauren Cheetham, Megan Glass, Anna Hansen, Lucy Hogan, Kate Kikilo, Sophia Kudryashova, Octavia Lau, Kaitlynn Sims, Paige Sundermann, Katii Tang and Mariella Venter.
• All eight divers on the roster made their season debuts against Navy and Miami. Sophomore Allie Klein and junior Camryn McPherson already have qualified for the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships on both one-meter and three-meter, as has junior Nikki Canale (three-meter only).
• MacNeil (Swimmer), Klein (Diver) and Kaitlynn Sims (Freshman) earned the first batch of Big Ten weekly honors back on Sept. 25.
