ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 25-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team led wire-to-wire and got 29 points from its bench in a 77-57 win over Bradley on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 10) at Crisler Center.
The Wolverines had three players score in double figures, led by sophomore Naz Hillmon, who notched a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Classmate Amy Dilk added 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists, with freshman Michelle Sidor chipping in with 11 points off of the bench.
Michigan's defense held Bradley to only 30.2 percent shooting from the field (19-for-63), including a 25.9 percent showing (7-for-27) from beyond the arc.
Michigan started out the scoring by going on a 7-0 run, culminating in a bucket from Hillmon, to take an early lead with 8:16 left in the first quarter. The Wolverines maintained that lead over the first 10 minutes to take a 17-10 lead after one.
After some back-and-forth play, Dilk went on her own run, scoring seven straight points over a 1:45 span for a 26-14 lead at the 5:20 mark of the second quarter. U-M got hot from behind the arc in the second period, hitting five triples to take a 38-21 lead at the break.
Michigan wasted little time building on its lead, going on a 6-0 run to grab a 44-21 advantage with 8:12 to go in the third. Bradley mounted a run in the period hitting six triples and getting within 14, 54-40, after three quarters.
The Braves opened the fourth quarter with a three-point play, trimming the U-M lead to 11 points just 16 seconds in. The Wolverines hit back-to-back triples, getting one from Sidor in the right corner and another from junior Hailey Brown on the left wing to nudge the lead back to 17 points with 7:51 left.
Bradley got no closer the rest of the way as Michigan moved to 2-0 on the season.
U-M hits the road next weekend for the Akron Classic in Akron, Ohio. Michigan will face Kent State on Friday (Nov. 15) at 2 p.m., before playing the host Zips on Saturday (Nov. 16) at 2:30 p.m.
