ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 24-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (2-0) hits the road for the first time this season, heading to Akron to face a pair of Mid-American Conference opponents at the Akron Classic this weekend. U-M will face Kent State on Friday (Nov. 15) at 2 p.m. and host Akron on Saturday (Nov. 16) at 2:30 p.m.
• For the sixth straight season, U-M is out to a 2-0 start after knocking off Western Michigan (Nov. 8) and Bradley (Nov. 10) during its opening weekend. Michigan led wire-to-wire in both contests, racing out to a 10-0 lead against WMU and 7-0 lead against Bradley (Nov. 10).
• Michigan hit 11 three-pointers in its 77-57 win over Bradley (Nov. 10), shooting at a 47.8 percent clip (11-for-23). The Wolverines had just one game last year with at least 10 triples, coming on March 9 against Maryland in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament. It was the 27th time in program history that Michigan has hit at least 11 three-pointers in a game.
• This weekend's games mark the return of Naz Hillmon to the greater Cleveland area. Hillmon attended Gilmour Academy in Cleveland for high school, where her No. 00 was retired last December. In addition, Toledo native Akienreh Johnson will return to her home state of Ohio.
• The women's basketball program signed Meghan Fiso, Whitney Sollom, Elise Stuck and Cameron Williams to National Letters of Intent to join the Wolverines for the 2020-21 season. The class is ranked No. 12 by ESPN, the highest in the Big Ten, as well as No. 16 by Prospects Nation and No. 25 by the All-Star Girls Report. [ Release ]
• Kent State (2-0) enters the weekend after picking up wins at Duquesne (77-75) and at Youngstown State (82-73 in OT) to start the season. KSU features five players scoring in double figures in Katie Shumate (16.5 ppg), Lindsey Thall (16.0 ppg), Asiah Dingle (15.5 ppg), Megan Carter (15.0 ppg) and Nila Blackford (12.5 ppg). That quintet has taken all but eight of Kent State's shots on the year. Michigan leads the all-time series against the Golden Flashes, 5-0, with the last meeting coming during the 2017-18 season.
• Akron (1-0) has played just one contest on the season, grabbing a 63-54 win at St. Bonaventure on Nov. 10. The Zips will host Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday (Nov. 15) before hosting Michigan on Saturday (Nov. 16). Akron had four players score in double figures against the Bonnies in Shaunay Edmonds (20 points, 10 steals), Caitlin Vari (13), Haliegh Reinoehl (12 points, 11 rebounds) and Jordyn Dawson (10 points).
