ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (9-3, 0-1 B1G) will host Penn State (6-6, 0-1 B1G) in its Big Ten Conference home opener Tuesday (Dec. 31) at Crisler Center. The game is Michigan's Dollar Day game, with tickets costing just $1. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
• Michigan is looking to snap a two-game skid after dropping back-to-back contests to ranked opponents away from home. U-M fell to No. 8 Florida State in Connecticut (Dec. 22) and at No. 12 Maryland (Dec. 28) the last time out.
• Sophomore Amy Dilk has turned it up in the last two contests, averaging 22.0 points per game on 62.1 percent shooting from the floor. She led Michigan in scoring in each of those games, going for a career-best 26 points against Florida State (Dec. 22) and following that up with 18 points against Maryland (Dec. 28). She is back to averaging double figures for the first time since Nov. 23, with 10.4 points per game on 45.5 percent shooting. She has played all but 32 seconds of Michigan's last two games.
• U-M's senior duo of Akienreh Johnson and Kayla Robbins is making the most of their senior seasons. Johnson and Robbins are two of Michigan's top four scorers on the season, as each is averaging career highs in scoring, rebounding and minutes. Johnson entered the season with career averages of 4.5 points and 2.7 rebounds in 13.5 minutes per game. This season, Johnson is averaging 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds in 27.5 minutes per contest. Robbins came into the season averaging 4.0 points and 2.7 rebounds in 11.5 minutes per game in her 101 appearances. As a senior, Robbins is starting for the first time and averaging 12.3 points and 5.1 rebounds in 26.8 minutes per contest. Both players have set new career highs in scoring this year, as Robbins turned in 23 points against Syracuse (Dec. 5) and Johnson went for 21 against Kent State (Nov. 15).
• Michigan has three players in double-figure scoring in Naz Hillmon (14.9 ppg, 8.0 rpg), Kayla Robbins (12.3 ppg, 5.1 rpg) and Amy Dilk (10.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg). Four other Wolverines are averaging at least 5.7 points per contest.
• Michigan is kicking off a two-game homestand against Penn State (Dec. 31). U-M will be back in action at home Sunday (Jan. 5), opening the new decade against Michigan State at noon on ESPN2. Michigan is 6-1 this season at Crisler, averaging 75.7 points per game while holding opponents to 58.7.
• Penn State (6-6, 0-1 B1G) is coming off an 81-74 loss to Minnesota on Saturday (Dec. 28). PSU trailed by as many as 35 in the contest before rallying in the second half to get within seven at the end. The Lady Lions are averaging 71.8 points per game on 40.2 percent shooting while allowing 69.1 points per contest on 38.1 percent shooting. Kamaria McDaniel (19.1 ppg) is second in the conference in scoring, with Siyeh Frazier (12.5 ppg) and Makenna Marisa (10.6 ppg) joining her in double figures. Michigan has won three straight and six of the last seven in the series against Penn State.
