Wolverine Bites
• With the Winter Cup Challenge NCAA bye week concluded, NCAA men's gymnastics now reverts to a five-up, five-count scoring format, replacing the six-up, five-count format that was used the first portion of the season.
• Based off season averages, U-M ranks in the top-five on all six events. On floor exercise (69.850) and high bar (66.083) the Wolverines rank third and hold down the No. 4 spots on pommel horse (65.783) and parallel bars (68.550). Michigan is also fifth on still rings (68.267) and vault (71.150). Conversely, Oklahoma ranks either first or second on every event and leads the nation on floor exercise (72.500), still rings (69.813), vault (72.488) and high bar (67.700).
• Individually, junior Mitchell Brown enters the meet ranked second on parallel bars, while OU's Yul Moldauer paces the nation on the event (14.717). The floor exercise competition will also be one to watch, as sophomore Jacob Moore is ranked second on the event (14.377), with Moldauer ranking third (14.333). U-M sophomore Cameron Bock possesses the highest average score in the all-around in the country with a mark of 81.967, and will be stiff competition for Moldauer in the all-around.
• Oklahoma's Moldauer, along with U-M alum Sam Mikulak (2011-14), is regarded as one of the greatest NCAA gymnasts in recent memory. He enters the meet as the reigning NCAA Champion on floor exercise, vault, parallel bars and the all-around, and owns an NCAA record seven individual titles in his career. He most recently won the all-around competition at the Winter Cup Challenge (Feb. 15-17).
• Oklahoma holds a 15-5 advantage in the all-time series against Michigan, and has never lost to U-M at home. The Sooners have won or finished first in every meet in which they have competed since placing second to Michigan at the 2014 NCAA team finals. In that span, they have racked up 107 consecutive victories, the longest streak in any Division I NCAA sport.
