• Saturday will be the 79th meeting between U-M and the Fighting Irish, with the Maize and Blue holding a 46-32 advantage in the all-time series against Notre Dame. Michigan was 2-0 last season against the Irish, defeating them last May at the Varsity Tennis Center in the NCAA Regional Tournament, 4-0, to advance to the Round of 16.
• Michigan also played Cleveland State in last season's NCAA Regional tournament, defeating the Vikings, 4-0, in the opening round of the tournament. Sunday will be the third matchup between the two programs (both coming last season), with U-M holding a 2-0 advantage.  Â
• Notre Dame comes into the weekend after dropping three matches at last weekend's ITA National Indoor Championships. The Fighting Irish fell to No. 7 UCLA, No. 11 Columbia and No. 3 Mississippi State. Prior to the three consecutive setbacks, Notre Dame had started off the season with an impressive 9-1 mark, which included a five-match win streak to start the season.
• The Irish are led by senior Alex Lebedev, who is ranked No. 15 by the ITA. Sophomore William Howells also comes into the weekend with a No. 111 national ranking. In doubles, the duo of sophomores Richard Ciamarra and Tristan McCormick are ranked No. 17 by the ITA.
• The Vikings come into the weekend with a 6-4 record, having won their last four matches. Two of their setbacks have come at the hands of No. 2 Ohio State.
• Cleveland State's Luke Phillips heads into the weekend with a team-high seven-match win streak to go along with a 7-1 dual record. In doubles, the duo of Nico Mostardi and Ben Slade have a team-leading nine wins while riding a three-match win streak.
• Sophomore Mattias Siimar moved up to No. 56 in the latest ITA singles rankings and comes into the weekend riding a team-best four-match winning streak. The Estonia native had a 4-2 dual record playing solely in the No. 1 spot. He has teamed up with freshman Andrew Fenty in doubles for a team-leading 10-3 mark and 5-1 record in dual play.
• The Maize and Blue will kick off Big Ten play next Wednesday (Feb. 27) when it travels to in-state rival Michigan State. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. in East Lansing.
