
Wolverines Aim for Second Straight Perfect B1G Season at Michigan State

With weeks remaining until the Big Ten Championships, the No. 2-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) will close out the dual-meet portion of its schedule with a final road meet on Friday (Feb. 8) at Michigan State (2-6, 1-4 Big Ten). The meet will begin at 6 p.m. inside McCaffree Pool.

Notes
• Michigan remains at No. 2 in the latest CSCAA poll, released Jan. 23. The final poll of the year will be released next Wednesday (Feb. 13). [ Poll ]
• A win over Michigan State on Friday would give U-M back-to-back undefeated seasons in dual meets for the first time since the 1988 and 1989 seasons. Since the start of the 2015-16 season, Michigan is 30-2 in dual meets.
• Senior Siobhán Haughey remains one of the country's top freestylers heading into the postseason, ranking No. 2 in the NCAA in both the 100-yard freestyle and 200-yard freestyle. She also is ranked No. 5 in the 200-yard IM.
• Freshman Maggie MacNeil is one of the Big Ten's best swimmers regardless of eligibility, ranking No. 1 in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly, and No. 2 in the 100-yard backstroke.
• The Wolverines, as a team, hold the top three times in the Big Ten in the 50- and 100-yard freestyles (Haughey, MacNeil, Catie DeLoof) and two of the top five in both the 500- and 1,650-yard freestyles (Yirong Bi, Sierra Schmidt).
• Three divers have qualified for the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships, to be held March 14-16 in West Lafayette, Indiana. Sophomores Nikki Canale and Christy Cutshaw -- both NCAA Championships qualifiers last season -- have scores in all three events, while freshman Allie Klein and sophomore Camryn McPherson have scores on both springboard events. For this year's NCAA Championships, Zone C is allotted nine spots on one-meter, eight spots on three-meter and 12 spots on platform. [ Diving Scores ]
The Opposition
Michigan State
The Spartans are 2-6 on the season and 1-4 in the Big Ten. They are coming off 196-101 loss to Notre Dame on Feb. 2 in East Lansing. Ana Sortland has an NCAA "B" time in the 100-yard breaststroke, while Marie Dickson has team-best times in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard butterfly and 400-yard IM.
Michigan holds a 41-2 record in the all-time series against Michigan State. The Wolverines have won 32 consecutive meetings in the series.
