ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team (19-7, 2-0 Big Ten)Â is in the midst of a seven-game homestand and will play four games this week at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium. Included in the stretch is a Wednesday afternoon (April 3) affair against Toledo (9-14) before a critical three-game series against the University of Minnesota (11-14, 5-1 Big Ten) starting Friday (April 5).
• Michigan carries a five-game win streak into a midweek contest against Toledo on Wednesday (April 3) with first pitch slated for 4 p.m. Wednesday's game will mark the 54th meeting between the Wolverines and the Rockets, and Michigan owns a 39-13-1 edge in the all-time series. The teams last met during the 2017 campaign, with Michigan winning, 12-0, behind 15 hits to kick off an 18-game homestand. Michigan and Toledo were set to play one game during the 2018 season, but the contest was cancelled due to inclement weather.
• The weekend series pits Michigan against Minnesota in a matchup of the two primary preseason Big Ten Conference favorites among baseball media pundits.
• Toledo will enter the week with a 9-14 overall record and an 0-4 record in Mid-American Conference action. The Rockets have not played since Friday (March 29) -- a 6-3 loss to Western Michigan -- due to rain on Saturday and low temperatures on Sunday. Toledo looks to snap a five-game losing streak when it comes to Ann Arbor.
• Michigan represents the only undefeated team in Big Ten Conference play thus far with a 2-0 record and a series win over Michigan State last weekend (March 29-30). Sunday's (March 31) game against the Spartans was postponed due to weather.
• Michigan is 8-0 when playing at home this season after picking up another home victory during Michigan's home-and-home series with Michigan State last weekend. When playing at the Wilpon Complex, home Ray Fisher Stadium, the Maize and Blue offense has combined for a .341 batting average and has outscored opponents by 63 runs (80-17). The Michigan pitching staff has held opponents to a .184 average and combined for a 1.91 earned-run average when inside the Wilpon Complex.
• Five Wolverines will enter the week hitting above .300, including junior Jordan Brewer (.375), senior Blake Nelson (.367), sophomore Jordan Nwogu (.338), sophomore Jack Blomgren (.326), and redshirt senior Miles Lewis (.309). Brewer leads the Big Ten and ranks 23rd in the country with a .715 slugging percentage. He also leads the conference in RBI (29) and runs scored (29).
• Offensively, Michigan leads the Big Ten in stolen bases (40) and doubles (61). The Wolverine offense also ranks in the top three among conference opponents in batting average, total hits, triples, home runs, on-base percentage, runs scored, sacrifice flyouts, and slugging percentage.
• The Wolverines' 3.07 earned-run average leads the Big Ten Conference and ranks 17th-best in the nation. The pitching staff also has combined for a conference-best four shutouts as well as the fewest hits allowed per nine innings (6.94), which ranks 13th in the country.
• Despite surrendering a season-high two earned runs in a victory at Michigan State on Friday (March 29), junior ace Tommy Henry leads the Big Ten and ranks eighth in the nation with an impressive 0.79 earned-run average. The lefty also ranks 20th in the country and first in the Big Ten with 57 strikeouts.
