ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team scored all of their runs between the second and fifth innings, including three runs each in the fourth and fifth, en route to an 8-2 win over visiting Toledo on Wednesday (April 3) at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium.

Michigan sophomore Jack Blomgren started the scoring in the second inning with a two-out single through the left side to plate redshirt senior Miles Lewis, who led off the inning with a single to left, moved to second on a groundout by senior Blake Nelson and moved to third on a balk.

A U-M fielding error allowed Toledo (9-15) to tie the game in the third inning before sophomore Joe Donovan put the Wolverines back on top with a long home run to lead off the bottom of the third inning to give the Wolverines a 2-1 lead. The homer was his second in as many games and his third of the season.

U-M extended its lead to 5-1 in the fourth inning, scoring on a wild pitch, an RBI single from senior Jimmy Kerr and a sacrifice fly from Blomgren.

U-M (20-7) scored three more times in the fifth for an 8-1 lead on the strength of five stolen bases in the inning. An infield single by junior Jordan Brewer was the only hit of consequence as the Wolverines benefitted from three walks and a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to Blomgren.

Freshman left-hander Walker Cleveland (2-1) earned the victory in relief with the most effective outing on the day among five U-M pitchers, allowing just one hit over two innings of work.

Lewis led the offense with three hits while Blomgren collected three RBI.

Michigan will continue its homestand with a weekend series against Minnesota starting on Friday (April 5). First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Wilpon Complex.
