ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Graduate transfer Jack Lint will make his decathlon debut for the No. 25-ranked University of Michigan men's track and field team this Thursday and Friday (April 4-5) at Arizona's Jim Click Shootout.
While a vast majority of the team will remain in Ann Arbor this weekend in preparation for a month-long push toward the postseason, Lint will represent the Wolverines in what is annually one of the best decathlon competitions in the country.
Over the course of two days, Lint will compete in 10 different events -- five on each day -- in hopes of posting a score that will qualify him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. His performances in each of the 10 events will earn points based on the quality of the time or mark, with the cumulative point total earned across all 10 events representing his final score.
He begins Thursday at 12:30 p.m. MST with the 100-meter dash, followed by the long jump at 1:15 p.m. MST, the shot put at 2:30 p.m. MST, the high jump at 3:45 p.m. MST and the day-one-finale 400 meters at 6:15 p.m. MST.
Lint resumes action Friday at 1:30 p.m. MST in the 110-meter hurdles. Day two will also include the discus at 2:15 p.m. MST, the pole vault at 4:15 p.m. MST and the javelin at 6:30 p.m. MST, with a 1,500-meter run at 8 p.m. MST serving as the overall finale. Mountain Standard Time (MST), is three hours behind Eastern Daylight Time
An NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifier for the decathlon in 2017 while at Virginia, Lint will be chasing a score that will position him well to secure a return trip to NCAAs for the Wolverines. Last year's 24th-and-final score accepted to the championships was 7,475 points, just three points less than his career-best 7,478-point performance from his Virginia days.
Lint's full schedule for the weekend can be found below, followed by early-season notes on the full Wolverine squad.

Wolverine Bites
• The Wolverine men are ranked No. 25 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Team Rating Index and tied for No. 18 in the FloTrack team rankings.
• FloTrack is projecting three-time All-American and two-time Big Ten champion Taylor McLaughlin as the early-season favorite for the national title in the 400-meter hurdles. He is expected to make his 2019 debut in his signature event later this month.
• Flotrack is also projecting Big Ten champion throwers Joe Ellis and Andrew Liskowitz to finish top-10 nationally. A first team All-American in the hammer throw in 2017, Ellis is predicted to finish fourth in 2019, while the three-time second team All-American shot putter Liskowitz is ranked ninth.
• Among Michigan men who have competed so far this spring -- Ellis and Liskowitz are expected to debut next weekend -- mid-distance runner Ben Hill has been the Wolverines' top performer. With his two-second career-best 3:44.97 run in the Stanford Invitational 1,500-meter competition last weekend, he ranks 17th nationally in the event.
• Hurdler Roland Amarteifio has also been strong in 2019, having already tied his 400-meter hurdles career best with a 51.73 performance two weekends ago. He ranks No. 26 nationally.
• While both are hoping to qualify for the NCAA Championships, they will first have to make it through the NCAA East Preliminaries in late May. Qualification for the East Prelims requires a student-athlete to be among the 48 highest-ranked athletes in the East Region who declare to compete in a given event. With some who choose to not declare -- for instance, those who rank highly in multiple events who choose to focus on a different event -- the actual rank of those who qualify can dip into the 50s and potentially the 60s.
• Below is a list of where Michigan men currently rank in the NCAA East Region, along with the performance that ultimately served as the 48th-and-final performance accepted into the Prelims for context.
9. Ben Hill, 1500 meters - 3:44.97 (2018 Final Qualifier: 3:45.82)
