
U-M to Host Louisville, Michigan State for Senior Day

BELLEVILLE, Mich. -- The No. 5-ranked University of Michigan rowing program will host Louisville and Michigan State on Sunday (May 5) for a Senior Day Regatta, beginning at 9 a.m. on Lake Belleville.
The one and only session of racing will begin at 9 a.m., and Michigan will compete a full lineup, eight boats. The first varsity eight, second varsity eight, first varsity four, second varsity four, third varsity four, fourth varsity four, first novice eight and second novice eight will all race in the regular-season finale.
Fans are encouraged to come out and cheer on their Wolverines in the final regatta of the 2019 regular season.
U-M will wrap its 2019 regular season with this weekend's races. Preparations are already underway for the program's postseason run, beginning with the Big Ten Championships in two Sundays (May 19).

Things to Know
• Michigan's nine seniors will be honored after races conclude: Rachel Fanning, Grace Gagliardi, Victoria Glunt, Kathryn Grotto, Meghan Gutknecht, Caroline Hendershot, Emily Krebs, Shayla Lamb, and Catherine Olson.
• Last time on the water, Michigan raced No. 1 Washington and No. 6 Ohio State in Las Vegas. U-M won the 1V4 race and came in second in the 2V8 race during a competitive day of events.
• After competing with the nation's best in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Wolverines had a week free from competition before closing out the regular season at home.
• Louisville's last weekend of action was the Clemson Invitational, which was cancelled, so Cardinals' last time on the water was April 6. At the Sunshine State Invite, the 1V8 and 2V8 boats finished second, leading to a runner-up team finish for Louisville against Alabama, Clemson, UCF, and others.
• Michigan State traveled to North Carolina for its last trip on the water, placing fourth overall at the first inaugural Lake Wheeler Invitational hosted by UNC. Duke won the event with 99 points, followed by Navy (71) and North Carolina (70), while the Spartans placed fourth with 66 points.
• The Big Ten Championships are right around the corner in Madison, Wisconsin -- the site of the first-ever Big Ten Championship Regatta in 2000, which was won by the Wolverines.
• The Big Ten has six teams ranked in the top 20 nationally: Michigan (No. 5), Ohio State (No. 6), Wisconsin (No. 11), Iowa (No. 12), Indiana (No. 13) and Rutgers (No. 16). Michigan State and Minnesota are also receiving votes in the poll.
• Last month, more than 500 University of Michigan athletes were honored as part of U-M's Student-Athlete Recognition Night, including an impressive 54 athletes from the rowing roster.
