BARABOO, Wis. -- Championship season has come for the No. 5-ranked University of Michigan rowing program, as the team pursues a Big Ten Title racing on Sunday (May 19) at 7 a.m. CDT on Devil's Lake at Devil's State Park. A victory this weekend would mark the sixth time the Wolverines have been Big Ten Champions.
The state of Wisconsin has been kind to U-M in past championship runs. The inaugural Big Ten Championship was held in Madison, in the spring of 2000, and was won by the Wolverines. The only other time the Big Ten held its championship in Wisconsin was 2007, when U-M finished second to Minnesota. At both those previous events, races were held on Lake Wingra in Madison.
Sunday's races are subject to change. Racing is scheduled to begin at 7Â a.m. CDT. Race order is being reversed such that the first varsity eight will compete first, and the second novice eight will compete last. More than 400 athletes will compete across seven races and an awards presentation is tentatively scheduled to take place after races conclude. The full race schedule can be seen below.
The Big Ten Championships can be viewed live on BTN2Go.com or the BTN2Go app. The full television broadcast will air on the Big Ten Network on Sunday, May 26, at 11 a.m.
