Fahey and Minor grabbed a 6-1, 6-2 win over No. 17-ranked Meghan Kelley and Sofia Munera, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16. The Wolverine duo went up a break at 2-1 and that was all the space they needed to take a 6-1 win in the first set.
The Wolverines got to work early in the second set, grabbing a 2-0 lead. Virginia answered right back with a break of serve and then a hold of its own to even the match at 2-2.
Fahey held her next time back at the service line, with another Michigan break to follow for a 4-2 lead. With the momentum in their favor, Michigan won the final two games to take a 6-2 lead.
