
Michigan Travels to West Coast to Face No. 13 Washington State

» Michigan will travel for the second time this season and will take on its first ranked opponent in Washington State.
» The Wolverines are tied for first in the Big Ten with three shutout victories, thier latest a 2-0 win over Bowling Green.
» Michigan has allowed only 33 shots and held BGSU without a shot in its most recent contest.
» Sophomore Raleigh Loughman continues to build her offensive prowess, as she leads the team with eight points and is tied for sixth in the Big Ten.

The University of Michigan women's soccer team will travel to Pullman, Washington, for its first test against a ranked opponent this season when it takes on No. 13-ranked Washington State on Friday (Sept. 13) at 7 p.m. PDT.
Series History with Washington State
• Michigan and Washington State will meet for the first time.
Scouting the Cougars
• Washington State is 4-0 to start the season and enters the week ranked No. 13 in the latest edition of the United Soccer Coaches Poll (Sept. 10).
• The Cougars have scored 17 goals this season and have nine players who have contributed to the tally.
• WSU has outshot its opponents, 89-25, has averaged 4.25 goals per game and has kept its opposnents to 0.75 goals per game.
• The Cougars have defeated all but one opponent by three goals or more and have netted six goals on two occasions, including a 6-0 victory against Montana (Aug. 30)
• Averie Collins leads the offensive charge with nine points (four goals, one assist), while Morgan Weaver has added seven points (three goals, one assist), and Elyse Bennett and MacKenzie Frimpong-Ellertson have five points on the season.
• Ella Dederick has started all four games in goal and sports a 0.32 goals-against average and has made seven saves.
• Also seeing time in net is Rachel Johnson, who has played 76 minutes and has made two saves.
Wolverines Against Ranked Opponents
• Friday's match will mark the first time Michigan has faced a ranked opponent this season. Washington State is No. 13 in this week's United Soccer Coaches Poll.
• The Wolverines are 36-66-20 all-time when they play a ranked opponent and are 1-4-0 when going up against a No. 13-ranked team.
• Head coach Jennifer Klein has matched up against three ranked opponents during her tenure at Michigan, with a 2-0 win over No. 17 Wisconsin on Sept. 20, 2018.
Loughman Stepping Into New Role
• After she appeared in 16 matches, three of them starts, in her freshman campaign, sophomore Raleigh Loughman has embraced a starting role in her second season on the team.
• This year, Loughman has played in all six matches (five starts) and is 200 minutes away from surpassing her 2018 season total.
• The midfielder leads the Wolverines with eight points (three goals, two assists). She booked a goal and an assist in Michigan's most-recent victory against Bowling Green (Sept. 8).
• Loughman is tied for sixth in the Big Ten with her eight points and three goals.
Anderson Nets First Career Goal
• Sunday's (Sept. 8) contest was a special one for sophomore Skylar Anderson as she not only netted her first career goal, but her entire family was in attendance for the first time in her collegiate career.
• Anderson extended the Michigan lead to 2-0 against Bowling Green late in the second half when she headed a free kick from Raleigh Loughman into the back of the goal.
• This season, Anderson has appeared in five games (two starts) and has spent 254 minutes on the pitch.
Defense, Defense, Defense
• The Michigan defense has surrendered just three goals in its first six matches and has allowed opponents to take a total of just 33 shots.
• U-M has surrendered 10 shots or more one time this season when it allowed 13 shots against Notre Dame (Sept. 6).
• The next time out on the pitch, Michigan held Bowling Green without a shot and held a 16-0 margin in its 2-0 win over the Falcons.
• The Wolverines are outshooting opponents, 96-33, and rank fourth in the Big Ten with 16 shots per match.
