Wolverines to Resume Big Ten Action at Notre Dame

The University of Michigan ice hockey team (7-11-2, 2-7-1 Big Ten) will resume Big Ten action Friday and Saturday, Jan. 10-11, when it takes on Notre Dame (10-7-3, 5-3-2 Big Ten) in a two-game set at Compton Family Arena in South Bend, Indiana. Friday's (Jan 10.) game will begin at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network. Puck drop for Saturday's game is set for 6 p.m., and the game will be streamed live in NBCSports.com.
Series History
• Michigan holds a 79-59-5 advantage in the all-time series against Notre Dame. The teams have gone 2-2 against each other over the past two seasons.
• Senior Nick Pastujov leads the Wolverines against the Irish with five points (one goal, four assists) in nine career games against Notre Dame, while classmate Will Lockwood adds four (3G, 1A) in four games against ND.
• Sophomore goaltender Strauss Mann is 1-0 against Notre Dame with 37 saves.
Wolverine Bites
• Michigan enters the 2020 calendar year with a 7-11-2 overall record after winning three of its last five games.
• Senior Jake Slaker leads the offense with 11 points (five goals, six assists) after a three-point performance at the Great Lakes Invitational last week in Detroit, earning all-tournament honors.
• A trio of Wolverines follow Slaker with nine points including Pastujov (four goals, five assists), Lockwood (5G, 4A) and freshman Johnny Beecher (five goals, four assists). Freshman Cam York (4G, 4A) has eight points.
• Strauss Mann ranks 11th in the nation in save percentage at .930. He has two shutouts and his 2.05 goals-against average ranks 12th in the nation.
Scouting the Fighting Irish
Notre Dame is No. 14 in the latest USCHO poll (Jan. 6) with a 10-7-3 overall record, including a 5-3-2 Big Ten record. The Irish began the season on an eight-game unbeaten streak but have gone 3-7-2 since.
Leading the way in scoring for the Irish are seniors Cam Morrison and Mike O'Leary. Morrison has 18 points on six goals and 12 assists while O'Leary adds 17 points on seven goals and 10 helpers. Sophomore Alex Steeves, senior Cal Burke and junior Colin Theisen provide additional scoring with more than 11 points each. Senior Cale Morris has a 2.60 GAA and .916 save percentage over 16 games.
