The only previous regular-season game was played at Hawaii on Dec. 6, 1986, a 27-10 victory for Michigan led by then-quarterback Jim Harbaugh. U-M's only other contests during the 12th month of the year have been postseason matchups in seven different bowl games.
Wolverines in the Classroom
The Big Ten announced its Fall Academic All-Big Ten honorees on Thursday (Dec. 10), with the football program accounting for 50 of the Michigan-record 148 student-athletes on the list. The 50 Wolverines are the most in the tenure of head coach Jim Harbaugh (2015-2020) and increase the total number of Academic All-Big Ten honorees to 224 over that span.
Sophomore quarterback Ren Hefley and graduate student defensive lineman Carlo Kemp were among four U-M student-athletes recognized for earning a GPA of 4.0 or higher.

Iowa is ranked No. 18 in the Associated Press Poll, No. 17 in the Coaches Poll. The Hawkeyes also are No. 16 in the latest College Football Playoff Rankings (Dec. 8).
