ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's basketball team (17-9, 8-7 Big Ten) will kick off a two-game road swing Sunday (Feb. 23), heading to East Lansing to face Michigan State (14-12, 7-8 Big Ten) at 5 p.m. The game can be seen live on the Big Ten Network.
• Michigan is looking for its first season sweep of Michigan State since the 2014-15 season. U-M recorded a 74-65 win at Crisler (Jan. 4, 2015) before grabbing a 72-59 victory at the Breslin Center (Feb. 5, 2015) during that campaign. That was Michigan's last win in East Lansing, as U-M is trying for its fifth season sweep of the Spartans in program history.
• Michigan is down to nine healthy players, with injuries to Kayla Robbins and Danielle Rauch. Balance has been the name of the game over the past five games since Rauch suffered a hand injury in practice on Feb. 5. Over that span, Michigan has four players scoring in double figures in Akienreh Johnson (13.8 ppg), Naz Hillmon (13.6 ppg), Amy Dilk (13.2 ppg) and Hailey Brown (10.8 ppg). Johnson, Dilk and Brown are each scoring above their season averages during the span. Michigan is 3-2 over the last five games with wins over Purdue, Minnesota and Illinois.
• For the ninth time this season, Michigan shot at least 50 percent from the floor in a 50.0 percent performance against Illinois (Feb. 19). It was the sixth time in Big Ten action that Michigan has reached the 50-percent mark. On the season, U-M is fourth in the conference (19th nationally) in field-goal percentage (.454). Individually, Naz Hillmon is second in the league and 21st nationally in field goal percentage at .568.
• Michigan State (14-12, 7-8 B1G) enters the game on a three-game win streak after knocking off Purdue, 65-63, right before the buzzer on Thursday (Feb. 20). The Spartans are averaging 68.5 points per game on 40.0 percent shooting while allowing 66.0 points per game on 41.8 percent shooting. MSU has two players averaging double-figure points per game in Nia Clouden (14.3 ppg), and Taryn McCutcheon (10.8 ppg).
• Michigan State won both meetings last season, but the Wolverines responded with an 89-69 home win against the Spartans earlier this year (Jan. 5). In the nationally-televised ESPN2 matchup, Michigan earned a decisive 20-point victory over MSU, the second-largest margin of victory over the Spartans in the series. The Maize and Blue had four double-figure scorers, with Amy Dilk leading the way with 23 points and Naz Hillmon putting up a double-double with 21 points and 12 boards.
