
Michigan Places 14 on WCGA Scholastic All-America List

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Women's Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced its 2019-20 Academic All-Americans on Tuesday (Aug. 11), with 14 University of Michigan student-athletes earning their way onto the list with a grade-point average of 3.50 or above.
Junior Lauren Farley and senior Maddy Osman each received the award for the third time in their careers. It was the third straight year for Farley, and Osman added to her 2017 and 2019 honors.
Four other gymnasts repeated as recipients from 2019 as senior Lexi Funk, juniors Anna Dayton and Anne Maxim, and sophomore Natalie Wojcik now are two-time Scholastic All-Americans.
First-time Scholastic All-Americans include seniors Sam Roy and Polina Shchennikova, junior Sam Javanbakht, sophomore Abby Brenner and freshmen Sierra Brooks, Abbie Gaies, Nicoletta Koulos and Gabby Wilson.
It was a successful year in the classroom for the Wolverines as six gymnasts were named Big Ten Distinguished Scholars, eight were named to the Academic All-Big Ten team and 14 received U-M Academic Achievement awards.
