Wolverine Bites
• The Wolverines sit atop the Big Ten Conference standings after the first weekend of competition with a 2-0 record. U-M was one of seven programs to kick off the season last weekend and was the lone team with multiple duals. Michigan has finished top three in the Big Ten dual-meet standings in two of the last three seasons, posting an 8-1 conference record in 2018-19 and 7-2 in 2017-18.
• Freshman Dylan Ragusin was named the season's first Big Ten Wrestler of the Week after posting a 2-0 record with two bonus wins in Michigan's dual wins at Rutgers (Jan. 8) and Maryland (Jan. 10). Ragusin used a cow catcher to pin the Scarlet Knights' 20th-ranked Nicolas Aguilar just 61 seconds into his collegiate debut at 125 pounds before rolling to a 9-1 major decision against Terrapin King Sandoval.
• Ragusin made his debut in the national rankings at 125 pounds, going from unranked to No. 10 in the latest InterMat poll. Ten Wolverines are ranked nationally at their respective weights, including seven in the top 10 and four in the top two according to InterMat: No. 1 Myles Amine (184), No. 2 Stevan Micic (133), No. 2 Logan Massa (174) and No. 2 Mason Parris (Hwt).
• Sophomore/freshman Cameron Amine also earned a pair of wins at 165 pounds in his first varsity competition, including a decisive 13-5 major decision against Maryland's Jonathan Spadafora. Senior/junior Andrew Davison, who has overcome multiple season-ending injuries in his collegiate career, picked up his first dual-meet win with an 11-8 decision over Maryland's Jaron Smith at 197 pounds.
• Michigan won 16 of 20 dual matches over their weekend road trip and earned bonus points in nine, more than half of its wins. Ragusin, Massa and Parris all posted multiple bonus wins on the weekend.
• Senior/junior Jack Medley leads the Wolverines with a 3-0 record on the season. He bumped up to earn two dual wins at 133 pounds, including a 12-5 decision against Maryland's Jackson Cockrell, and after the dual was over, cruised to a 25-10 technical fall over Terrapin Dainon Kappes at 125 pounds in the extra matches. The Wolverine scored 18 total takedowns in Sunday's meet at Maryland.
• U-M went 10-3 in the extra matches last weekend. Freshman Fidel Mayora, like his Montini Cathlic teammate Ragusin, earned two wins in his collegiate debut at 157 pounds, while senior/junior J.T. Correll similarly posted a pair of wins at 197 pounds. Junior/sophomore Max Maylor also picked up a quality win with a 7-5 decision over Rutgers' Jackson Turley at 174 pounds.
• Michigan returned seven starters from its young squad a season ago and, with the addition of its three wrestlers coming off Olympic redshirts, the Wolverines' 2020-21 roster includes seven All-Americans -- three NCAA All-Americans and four NWCA All-Americans -- in senior/junior Jack Medley (125 pounds), graduate student Stevan Micic (133), fifth-year senior Kanen Storr (149), junior/sophomore Will Lewan (157), sixth-year senior Logan Massa (174), graduate student Myles Amine (184) and junior Mason Parris (Hwt).
• Four Wolverines captured USA Wrestling national titles in freestyle this fall. Sixth-year senior Logan Massa and junior Mason Parris captured senior titles at 74kg and 125kg, respectively, in October. Massa claimed his second straight senior national crown with a 15-2 technical superiority over Arizona State's Anthony Valencia in the final, while Parris, a 2019 junior freestyle world champion, teched former ASU standout Tanner Hall, 12-2, in his final bout. Freshman Dylan Ragusin, who also reached the 57kg senior final, captured the junior title at the same weight in November, defeating Columbia's Angelo Rini, 13-10, in the final. Junior/sophomore Will Lewan rounded out Michigan's champions with a 70kg U23 title, earning a 5-4 decision against Iowa's Kaleb Young in the final -- and avenging his loss from last year's dual meeting.
• Current Wolverines Logan Massa, Myles Amine and Mason Parris also provided the primary firepower for the Cliff Keen Wrestling Club's team championship at the inaugural RTC Cup team title in December. The trio, along with former three-time All-American Alec Pantaleo, earned wins in the championship final against the combined squad of Southeast RTC and New Jersey RTC. The CKWC went 4-0 over the two-day competition. Among the event's notable individual wins, Massa used two four-point throws to overcome an eight-point deficit and defeat NC State's Hayden Hidlay, 8-8, on criteria and Parris scored a late takedown and lace to edge two-time NCAA champion and world medalist Nick Gwiazdowski, 10-7, in the semifinals.
• Three Wolverines are bearing down at the 100-win milestone this season. Graduate students Stevan Micic and Myles Amine enter the season with career records of 93-14 and 93-20, respectively, while sixth-year senior Logan Massa is 87-19 over his collegiate tenure. The most-recent Michigan wrestler to reach the milestone was Adam Coon, who finished his career with a stellar 116-15 record, in 2018-19.
• Head coach Sean Bormet is in his third season at the helm of the Michigan program. Under his guidance, the Wolverines have compiled a 22-7 dual-meet record, including a 15-5 mark in Big Ten duals, and posted a fifth-place NCAA finish in 2019 -- U-M's second straight top-five finish. Michigan has boasted seven different All-Americans over the last two seasons.

Last Time Out
The Wolverines cruised to a pair of road wins in their opening weekend, defeating No. 15 Rutgers, 26-10, last Friday (Jan. 8) before securing a dominant 38-9 rout at Maryland on Sunday (Jan. 10). Freshman Dylan Ragusin (125 pounds), sixth-year senior Logan Massa (165) and junior Mason Parris (Hwt) led the Wolverines with two bonus wins apiece. Ragusin pinned Rutgers' 10th-ranked Nicolas Aguilar just 61 seconds into his collegiate debut, while Parris wrapped the road trip with his own first-period pin (1:39) against Maryland's Bryan Bowes.
