Maggie MacNeil, Letitia Sim (Jan. 19)
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Maggie MacNeil picked up her strong senior campaign right where she left off in December, coming home from Wisconsin with four event wins. The London, Ontario, native won both the 100-yard backstroke (52.73) and the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.88), earning NCAA 'B' cuts in both races. MacNeil also swam a 24.63-second 50-yard backstroke to kick off the Wolverines' 200-yard medley relay-winning team. The senior also swam the opening leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay in 49.29 seconds, as Michigan went on to win in 3:18.49. Both relays set new pool records for the Soderholm Family Aquatics Center.
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Letitia Sim continued her strong freshman campaign and helped the No. 3-ranked Wolverines secure victories over No. 14 Wisconsin and No. 20 Minnesota with two individual event wins and a win on the 200-medley relay this weekend. The freshman touched first in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:01.02, securing an NCAA 'B' cut and topping the rest of the field by more than two seconds. Sim swam to a similar result in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:13.44 and winning by almost two seconds while securing a 'B' cut time. The Spanish For, Ala., native also swam the breaststroke leg of the 200-yard medley relay, turning in a 27.85 to help the Wolverines to a Soderholm Family Aquatic Center record 1:38.90.
Maggie MacNeil, Letitia Sim (Dec. 8)
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Maggie MacNeil had a successful Minnesota Invitational, winning three individual races, being a part of three winning relays, setting two top NCAA times, making four NCAA 'A' cuts and being part of four NCAA 'A' relay cuts. MacNeil won the 50-yard freestyle (21.50), the 100-yard freestyle (47.15) and the 100-yard butterfly (49.97), and was part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.64), 400-yard freestyle relay (3:11.34) and 400-yard medley relay (3:27.22). The London, Ontario, native hit NCAA 'A' cuts in the 50 free, 100 free and 100 fly, and also hit an 'A' cut with her 100-yard backstroke (50.33) as part of the Medley Relay. The 200- and 400-yard freestyle relay and the 200- and 400-yard medley relay teams all achieved NCAA 'A' cuts as well, with the 400 medley relay falling just .05 seconds off the school record. » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Letitia Sim put together another strong showing at the Minnesota Invitational, establishing herself as one of the top freshman in the country. The Spanish Fort, Ala., native swam a 58.31 breaststroke to help the 400-yard medley relay take first place and secure an NCAA 'A' cut time, and also finished second in the A final of the 100-yard breaststroke (59.06). Though the 200-yard medley relay placed second at the invite, Sim's 26.83 split in the breaststroke helped the Wolverines earn an 'A' cut time. Sim also set new career best in the 100-yard breaststroke, 200-yard IM (1:55.99) and 100-yard butterfly (52.90). » Big Ten Release
Kathryn Ackerman, Lindsay Flynn (Nov. 10)
Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Kathryn Ackerman had a tremendous weekend for the No. 4-ranked Michigan women, winning four individual events to help the Wolverines boost their record to 5-0. The Grand Haven, Mich., native took first in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyles in the Purdue Triple Dual on Friday (Nov. 5), turning in NCAA 'B' standards for both. Flynn's 1:46.16 in the 200 was the fifth-fastest time of the season for the NCAA, and her 4:42.58 in the 500 ranks fourth-best in the NCAA this season. In her only runner-up finish of the weekend, Ackerman touched the wall in an NCAA 'B' standard of 1:58.22. On Saturday (Nov. 6), she returned to action taking first place in both the 200 freestyle (1:50.29) and 100 freestyle (51.57). » Big Ten Release
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Lindsay Flynn helped the No. 4-ranked Wolverines to a 3-0 weekend, turning in five combined wins against Purdue and Missouri at the Purdue Tri-Dual as well as Grand Valley State in the Ian Miskelley Memorial Meet. The freshman's individual win came in the 100-yard freestyle against Missouri and Purdue, touching the wall in the NCAA's fourth-fastest time of the season at 48.70 seconds. She also was instrumental in two Michigan relay wins, anchoring the 200 medley relay that turned in an NCAA 'A' time standard of 1:36.25 with Flynn finishing her leg in 21.55. She then kicked off the winning 400 freestyle relay team with a 48.71 and finished third in the only race she did not win, the 50 free, but still turned in an NCAA 'B' time standard of 22.62. On Saturday (Nov. 6), the Matthews, N.C., native anchored two winning relay teams for Michigan, touching the wall in 22.50 for the 200 medley relay and 22.36 for the 200 freestyle relay. » Big Ten Release

Big Ten Swimmer of the Week -- Senior Maggie MacNeil won three individual races and helped Michigan to two relay wins in its first-place finish of the SMU Classic last weekend. The senior swept the freestyle sprints, winning the 50- (21.78) and 100-yard (48.73) events, while also taking first place in the 100-yard backstroke (51.09), picking up NCAA 'B' cuts in all three events. MacNeil capped the meet as part of the winning 400-yard medley relay (3:30.48, split of 50.88) and 200-yard medley relay (1:37.66, split of 23.57) teams. In total she was the high point scorer for the meet (96).
Big Ten Freshman of the Week -- Letitia Sim had a strong showing in her collegiate debut, winning two events and helping Michigan to two relay wins to help lead the Wolverines to a first place finish at the SMU Classic. The freshman won both the 100-yard breaststroke (59.09) and 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.08), earning NCAA 'B' cuts in each event. She also took part in U-M's two relay wins in the 400-yard medley (3:30.48, split of 59.38) and 200-yard medley (1:37.66, split of 27.22). The Spanish Fort, Alabama native also earned NCAA 'B' cuts swimming in the B-Finals of the 100-yard butterfly (53.06) and 200-yard IM (1:57.16).
