All-time series against the Seminoles: First meeting
Florida State enters the Elite Eight ranked No. 1 and is NCAA Tournament's No. 1 overall seed with a 19-1-2 record. After a flawless postseason run to this point, they hold the ACC Tournament title, besting No. 25 Wake Forest (2-1, OT) and No. 1 Virginia (1-0). The Seminoles were only one of two teams to top the polls throughout the 2021-22 season, sharing the honor with ACC regular-season champion Virginia. The 'Noles cruised by South Alabama (3-0), No. 25 SMU (5-1), and No. 9 Pepperdine (1-0) on their way to Friday's Elite Eight matchup.
FSU ranks second in NCAA in scoring offense (3.00 goals per game), third in total goals (63), and fourth in points per game (8.76). Sophomore forward Beata Olsson stands 17th nationally in goals scored (13) and 25th in goals per game (0.68). Senior midfielder Clara Robbins is also a force to be reckoned with, coming fresh off winning her second consecutive ACC Tournament MVP honor.
If the Maize and Blue triumph over the Seminoles, they advance to the College Cup's Final Four for the first time in program history and would face off against the winner of Duke and Santa Clara.
