ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The second-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team defeated No. 5 Ohio State by a score of 408.350-397.950 on Wednesday (March 17) in a virtual meet. The teams competed at their respective training facilities, with Wolverines at Newt Loken Training Center.
U-M now sits at 5-0 in Big Ten Conference competition and will be crowned Big Ten regular-season champion following its matchup at Penn State (March 20).
Michigan opened the meet with a 68.250 on floor exercise, led by a 13.95 by senior Nick Guy that was good for second place on the event.
In the second rotation, U-M saw two stellar 13.90s on pommel horse from sophomore Markus Shears and Juda, who shared the event win. The title was Shears' first of his U-M career. The Wolverines scored a 67.000 and held a 1.9-point lead.
On still rings in the third rotation, U-M narrowly missed bettering its own top score in the country (69.500) with a 69.450. Bock secured the event win with a 14.450, while classmate James Read took second with a career-high 14.400.
With U-M leading, 205.175-198.500, heading into the fourth rotation on vault, the Buckeyes edged the Wolverines 70.300-69.700. Juda led the effort for U-M on the table with a 14.25. U-M held a 5.6-point advantage heading into parallel bars.
On parallel bars, Juda took his second event win of the meet, scoring a 14.200. Freshman Evgeny Siminiuc scored a 14.150 to finish just off the pace as Michigan secured a 66.850 team total on the event and led by nearly eight points heading into the final rotation.
On high bar in the final rotation, Michigan scored a 67.100, paced by Juda's 14.100 for his third event win of the meet.

U-M will close out the regular season on Saturday (March 20) in State College, Pa., to take on No. 6 Penn State. The contest is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start and will be streamed live on Big Ten Network Plus.
