ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's lacrosse team (3-8) is set for the 2021 Big Ten Tournament as it travels to State College, Pa., as the No. 7 seed and faces No. 2-seed Maryland (7-5) on Thursday April 29) at 5 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
The winner of the game will face Johns Hopkins or Penn State on Friday (April 30) at 8 p.m. in the tournament semifinals.
Wolverine Bites
• Michigan is 3-8 overall on the season after falling twice to Johns Hopkins to close out the regular season.
• The Wolverines will play in the Big Ten Tournament for just the fourth time in program history. Michigan appeared in the 2015 and 2016 tournaments when all conference teams qualified. U-M qualified for the Big Ten Tournament for the first time in program history in 2019, while all seven teams earned a spot in the 2021 season.
• U-M will take on No. 13-ranked Maryland for the first time in the Big Ten Tournament after taking on Northwestern in its other three appearances. Michigan will be looking for its first win in the tournament, having lost to the Wildcats each time.
• Senior Caitlin Muir ranks sixth in the Big Ten in points per game with 3.73. The senior attacker leads the Wolverines with 41 points with a team-high 22 assists.
• Eight Wolverines have double-digit points on the season, led by Muir, while Molly Garrett has a team-high 31 goals and 34 total points.

Maryland
Michigan trails 7-0 in the all time series with Maryland
The Wolverines will be looking for their first win over Maryland after falling in both of its contests this season against the Terrapins. Michigan played Maryland in two close contests, falling 17-13 in game one and 12-9 in game two on the road. The Terrapins earned the No. 2 seed in the tournament with a 7-5 overall record but have lost four of their last six games. Maryland is led by Hannah Leubecker, who has 45 points -- 44 of which are goals -- while Grace Griffin has 33 points and Brindi Griffin has 32. In the cage, Emily Sterling has made 11 starts and has 94 saves on the season for a .400 save percentage and is the goalie of record in every game for the Terrapins.
