LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Michigan junior right-handed pitcher Alex Storako was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division I All-American on Wednesday afternoon (June 2). It is the first career All-America citation for Storako, who was voted an at-large selection to the second team.
Michigan has had at least one All-American in eight of the last nine years -- omitting 2020 when the NFCA did not award all-region or All-America honors -- with 41 Wolverines combining for 69 total honors. Storako is the 14th different pitcher to garner All-America honors in program history and the sixth in 12 seasons.
Storako, who was a unanimous selection as the Big Ten's 2021 Pitcher of the Year, previously earned NFCA All-Great Lakes Region second team honors as a freshman (2019). She also earned unanimous All-Big Ten first team recognition this season and was a four-time Big Ten Pitcher of the Week.
Storako led the Wolverines this season with a 22-3 record with a 1.05 earned-run average, 270 strikeouts and a .138 opponent batting average. She posted seven complete-game shutouts and contributed to six more. She continues to lead the nation with a 12.9 strikeout-per-seven-innings average, while ranking fourth nationally with 3.26 hits allowed per seven innings and eighth with her 1.05 ERA.
