
Eight Wolverines to Compete in Wave I of US Olympic Trials

OMAHA, Neb. -- The University of Michigan men's and women's swimming and diving program will send 28 current and former student-athletes to the U.S. Olympic Trials, which will be run in two waves, beginning Friday (June 4) at the CenturyLink Center. The Wolverines have eight student-athletes set to compete in the first wave.
Due to COVID-19 guidelines, the trials will begin with Wave I, Friday through Monday (June 4-7) and will be followed by Wave II from Sunday, June 13, through Sunday, June 20.
Wave I preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. CDT with finals to follow at 7 p.m. CDT. Prelims will air on USASwimming.org, while finals will be televised live on the Olympic Channel. Wave II preliminaries will be shown on NBC Sports Network, and the finals will be televised on NBC.
The two fastest athletes in each event from Wave I will qualify for Wave II. The two top finishers in each individual event of Wave II will make the U.S. Olympic Team. The top six finishers in the 100-meter freestyle and 200-meter freestyle also will be considered for selection to fill out the 4x100-meter freestyle relay and 4x200-meter freestyle relay.

Casey Chung: 100m backstroke

Noelle Kaufmann: 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke
Sophia Tuinman: 200m backstroke
