
Michigan Honors Miskelley at Be Better; Invite, Sweeps Three Events

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team came together with Hope College, Davenport University and host Calvin University on Saturday (Oct. 22) at the Venema Aquatic Center to honor the memory of former Wolverine swimmer Ian Miskelley at the Be Better; Invite.
In the first event of the meet, the Wolverines swept the 100-yard butterfly with Wyatt Davis leading the charge. Logan Zucker and Cam Peel finished second and third, respectively, with Jacque Wenger picking up the fourth-place finish.
Nikola Acin, Charlie Morici and Jack Wilkening kept the sweeps coming with a one-two-three finish in the 100-yard backstroke. Continuing with the trend, Brendan Fitzpatrick, Jared Daigle and Ozan Kalafat touched the wall within 0.30 seconds of each other to pull off another sweep in the 100-yard breaststroke.
In the 50 free, Lucas Hodgson touched the wall first in a time of 20.82 seconds, while teammate Andrew Trepanier finished third in 21.02.
In the diving well, Kameron Liberman finished first on the three-meter springboard and Cameron Gammage finished first on the one-meter springboard.
In the last traditional race of the meet, the quartet of Nadav Aaronson, Gal Groumi, Tyler Ray and Zucker finished the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1:30.39.
To start off the non-traditional races, Eduardo Moraes and Yugo Tsukikawa finished first and second in the 5x100 free. Moraes finished in 4:04.08, while Tsukikawa touched the wall in a time of 4:13.52.
In the mystery 100-yard individual medley, Ansel Froass touched the wall first in a time of 50.85 seconds with Cameron Luarde finishing second in 52.18. Peel and Morici survived all seven rounds of the mystery skin race finishing first and second, respectively. Peel won the final race, which was a 25-yard breaststroke, while Morici touched second.
The Wolverines will return to the pool Friday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m., when they host Purdue at Canham Natatorium in their first Big Ten dual meet of the season. The meet will be streamed live on B1G+.
