Wolverine Bites
• This weeken'd meet is the seventh annual Flip for Chip meet in which the Michigan women's gymnastics team honors the life of Chip Hills, father of former Michigan gymnast Cailee Hills. The Wolverines have a 6-0 record in Flip for Chip meets, defeating Nebraska in the 2021 season as Natalie Wojcik earned a perfect 10.0 on the balance beam.
• Michigan's score of 198.525 at Rutgers (Feb. 4) is the sixth-highest score in NCAA history and the highest score since 2004. Michigan is just one of six teams to score a 198.500 or better, joining Georgia, Oklahoma, Stanford, UCLA and Utah.
• Michigan also broke the program vault record with a team score of 49.875, the second highest in NCAA history, topping the previous best of 49.825 set in 1997 against Utah State.
• The Wolverines notched four perfect 10s at the Rutgers Tri Meet (Feb. 4), which ties a Michigan record set in 1997 against both Oregon State and Utah State. Michigan's three 10s on the vault tie the U-M record set against Utah State in 1997. Gabby Wilson sparked the lineup as she became the 10th Wolverine to earn a 10.0 on floor exercise and the first since Nicole Artz in 2017. Sophomore Reyna Guggino led off the vault rotation with a perfect score, while Natalie Wojcik and Abby Heiskell followed with 10.0s of their own. The trio notched the 29th, 30th and 31st perfect vault scores in Michigan gymnastics history. Guggino and Heiskell became the 11th and 12th gymnasts to accomplish the feat; Wojcik has two other perfect vault scores in her career, with the last coming at the 2021 Big Ten Championships.
• The Wolverines swept the Big Ten weekly honors on Wednesday (Feb. 10) after their performance at Rutgers. Natalie Wojcik notched her 13th Big Ten Gymnast of the Week honor after tying the Michigan all-around score and taking home titles on uneven bars, balance beam and vault -- including a perfect vault score. Reyna Guggino earned her first Big Ten Specialist of the Week honor, scoring a perfect 10 on the vault and becoming just the second gymnast in NCAA history to lead off a rotation with a perfect score. Freshman Jacey Vore earned her first career Big Ten honor after sharing the bars title at Rutgers with a career-high 9.925. Vore entered the Michigan lineup for the first time at Minnesota (Jan. 24) and has competed three times on the bars.
• Gabby Wilson has earned a 9.950 on floor exercise a total of six times in her career. At Rutgers, she earned her first perfect 10 and sparked four straight Wolverine perfect scores. Her perfect score on floor marked the 20th time a Michigan gymnast has earned a 10 on the event, coming from 10 different gymnasts, the most recent in 2017.
