ORLANDO, Fla. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team won one event and got an all-time performance in another on Saturday (March 19) as it wrapped up its 2022 outdoor debut at the UCF Black and Gold Invitational.
The quartet of Lawrence Gilliam, All-American Dubem Amene, All-American and Big Ten champion Joshua Zeller, and Jacob Koerner combined to run 41.20 for the win in the 4x100-meter relay.
In the individual events, Eli Winter was the top performer as he finished runner-up in the weight throw with a heave of 63.42m (208-1) that moved him to No. 5 in school history. It also puts him in early contention to qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds as one of the NCAA East Region's top 48 performers in the event come May.
Job Mayhue led all Wolverines on the track with a runner-up finish in the 110-meter hurdles. He got a slight tailwind behind him to run 13.94 (+2.8m/s) for a time that puts him in position to make the NCAA East Prelims as well.
