This Friday (March 25), the No. 3-ranked University of Michigan rowing team will host Indiana University for the first of three scheduled home regattas this spring. Races were originally scheduled for Saturday (March 26) morning, but due to impending inclement weather, the teams will meet for a scrimmage on Friday instead.
The teams are expected to race close to a full championship lineup (two varsity eights, two varsity fours), plus two novice eights. U-M will also race a third four. U-M is expected to have in excess of 50 athletes competing altogether this weekend.
Races will no longer be streamed live on the team's Instagram channel (@umichrowing), but fans are welcome back as in-person spectators for the first time since the 2019 season.
The Hoosiers are traveling to the U-M area following a weekend in Tennessee at the Cardinal Invitational, hosted by Louisville. IU raced against Alabama, Notre Dame, and Yale last weekend at the event hosted by Louisville.

THINGS TO KNOW
• U-M currently sits at No. 3 in the latest edition (March 23) of the Pocock CRCA Poll. Michigan is the top-ranked team from the Big Ten.
• Overall, the conference has four teams ranked in the top 20 nationally, including U-M, No. 6 Ohio State, No. 9 Rutgers, and No. 17 Wisconsin. Indiana is presently receiving the most votes of any team outside the top 20.
• U-M has been the class of the Big Ten in recent years, winning consecutive conference titles (2019, '21) for the third time in program history (2000-01, 2003-04). The Wolverines return 31 of 51 athletes from last year's Big Ten title squad including second team All-Big Ten athlete Grace Collins.
• The program is in pursuit of its fourth top-four finish at the NCAA Championships in the past five years. U-M appeared in three grand final events for the second straight NCAA Championships in 2021 after placing top-four in all three NCAA events in 2019. Five athletes (Kate Burns, Grace Collins, Emma Luniewicz, Jeri Rhodes, and coxswain Charlotte Powers) were part of both those rosters and return to the 2022 team. Powers earned All-American honors following last season.
• The Wolverines continue to compete for spots in the team's top boats. Lineups are fluid and ever-changing.
• U-M will host two more events at Belleville Lake this spring: the Wolverines are set to welcome No. 1 Texas on April 9 and Louisville for Senior Day on May 1.
