ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 19-ranked University of Michigan softball was forced to cancel its series finale against Nebraska on Saturday (March 26) due to weather. The game will not be made up.
The teams had already altered the weekend schedule due to similarly poor conditions forecasted for Sunday (March 27) and opened the series with two games yesterday (Friday, March 25). Nebraska claimed both, 3-2 and 7-4, at the Wilpon Complex, home of Alumni Field.
With the results, U-M starts 0-2 in the Big Ten Conference for the first time since 2009 -- when it captured the league's regular-season crown and advanced to the NCAA Women's College World Series.
Michigan has now lost three games to weather this season -- against Army West Point (Feb. 24) and Kent State (March 13) previously due to travel issues and weather, respectively, but added two games to compensate.
The Wolverines will wrap their current nine-game homestand on Tuesday (March 29), hosting Bowling Green at 4 p.m. at Alumni Field. Tickets are available through the U-M Ticket Office.
