ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team dropped a 14-7 decision to visiting Oakland University Wednesday (March 30) in a non-conference game at the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium.

Michigan's homestand will continue over the weekend as the Wolverines host Iowa in a critical Big Ten Conference series Friday through Sunday (April 1-3). Friday's game against Iowa is slated for 4 p.m. with free admission for fans 18 years and under.

Oakland outhit Michigan by a count of 19-10 on Wednesday as four Grizzlies collected three or more hits. Michigan never got closer than five runs despite connecting on three home runs.

Oakland jumped on U-M starter Logan Wood (0-2) right away, plating six runs on six singles, a fielder's choice and an error in the first inning. Oakland led 7-0 and 9-1 before Michigan got going with Jimmy Obertop and Ted Burton driving opposite-field home runs to right field to pull U-M within 9-4 after three innings of play.

Oakland responded by plating three runs on four hits in the top of the fifth inning to re-claim a commanding lead, 12-4.

Clark Elliott connected on a 410-foot home run in the seventh inning, a three-run bomb to right field. His two hits and four runs batted in led the way for the Wolverines.
