ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team hits the road this weekend, riding a nine-match win streak, to take on Illinois on Friday (April 1) and Northwestern on Sunday (April 3). Match times are 4 p.m. CT on Friday and noon CT on Sunday.
WOLVERINE BITES
• Michigan is No. 6 in the ITA rankings this week and is No. 3 in the Tennis Channel top-25 poll.
• The Wolverines are 12-2 on the season, 2-0 in the Big Ten and have won their last nine matches.
• Michigan is 51-11 in dual single play with Jacob Bickersteth owning the best win percentage with a 10-1 mark. He has won his last six matches.
• Nick Beaty and Patrick Maloney are both 8-1 in singles. Beaty has won his last eight matches and Maloney has won his last six.
• As a pair, Beaty/Maloney have won their last seven doubles matches and are 9-1 this spring.
• Ondrej Styler has won his last five matches and is now 7-2 in dual play while being the highest ranked Wolverine in singles at No. 27.
• Andrew Fenty is ranked No. 33 in singles and with partner Nino Ehrenschneider, the pair are No. 6 in doubles.
• Michigan has won the doubles point in 12 of 14 matches this season; of the two matches that Michigan has dropped the doubles point, one was against Illinois.
• Styler/Gavin Young are 5-3 and ranked No. 21 in doubles.
VS. THE OPPONENTS
• Illinois is 7-10 on the season and 1-1 in the Big Ten after splitting with Ohio State and Penn State last week on the road.
• Michigan holds a 66-44-2 advantage in the all-time series with Illinois, which includes a 4-1 non-conference win on Feb. 11. The win against the Illini earlier this season snapped a five-match losing skid in the series for the Wolverines.
• Northwestern is ranked No. 25 in the latest ITA poll with a 12-6 mark and is 1-1 in the conference with a win over Penn State and loss at Ohio State.
• Michigan leads the series with Northwestern, 73-28-1, and hold a 17-5 edge since 2000. The Wolverines have won the last four meetings, including a 4-2 match last spring.
