WEST POINT, N.Y. -- The No. 4-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team registered its top score of the season with a 412.850 team score on Saturday (March 5), defeating the No. 10-ranked Army Black Knights and No. 13-ranked William & Mary Tribe at the United States Military Academy.
Michigan (10-1) swept every event, winning all six events as a squad. Junior Paul Juda led the team, taking home six individual event titles and the all-around. Juda scored a 14.05 on floor exercise, pommel horse, and still rings, with a 14.80 on vault and parallel bars and 14.35 on the high bar for an all-around total of 86.10.
The Wolverines showed their team's depth, taking home all five top finishes on pommel horse, still rings, and parallel bars with multiple top finishers in two other events. Individual champion Juda was paced by teammate Cameron Bock, who finished second on still rings and parallel bars and matched Juda's 14.05 on pommel horse to ultimately share that event title. Senior Jacob Moore also turned on the pressure, splitting the individual title on floor with a 14.05 as well.
Bock's event title and podium finishes made a statement, as the senior made his collegiate debut this season after a long pause due to injury. Bock and Juda were recently named to the United States Senior National Team following the Winter Cup Challenge (Feb. 27).
The Maize and Blue hit 27-of-30 routines on the afternoon (90 percent).
U-M returns to Big Ten competition on Sunday (March 13), traveling to No. 6 -ranked Illinois for a 3:30 p.m. meet. The contest will be broadcast nationally on Big Ten Network.
