
Michigan to Host Michigan State for Regular Season Finale, Senior Day

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 8-ranked University of Michigan men's tennis team will close out its regular-season schedule on Saturday (April 23) when it hosts Michigan State on Senior Day.
Michigan's Wheelchair Tennis, the national runner-up in the 2021 USTA Collegiate Wheelchair National Championship, will also be recognized. First serve is set for noon with the recognition ceremony between doubles and singles play.Â
Wolverine Bites
• Michigan is 17-3 on the season and in second place in the Big Ten standings at 7-1.
• The Wolverines are ranked No. 8 in the ITA computerized rankings this week after having a 13-match win streak end at No. 2 OSU last weekend (April 15). Michigan rebounded by topping Penn State two days later (April 17).
• Michigan's doubles have been strong, as the Wolverines have won the doubles point in 17 of 20 matches this season to take the early lead.
• Andrew Fenty/Nino Ehrenschneider are 16-5 and ranked No. 24 in doubles while Ondrej Styler/Gavin Young are 8-5 and ranked No. 27.
• Patrick Maloney/Nick Beaty are riding an 11-match win streak and are 14-2.
• Five Wolverines are ranked in singles play. Styler (No. 29) is 13-3 in dual play and 7-1 in the Big Ten, while No. 47 Jacob Bickersteth has won his last three matches and is 13-2 with a 3-1 Big Ten mark. Fenty (No. 66) is 6-6 with a 1-3 Big Ten record.
• Ehrenschneider (No. 97) broke back into the singles rankings this week. He sports a seven-match win streak and is 9-1 in dual singles and unbeaten in Big Ten play at 5-0. Young (No. 106) is 13-3 on the season and 6-1 in conference action.
• Beaty has the longest win streak on the team, holding at 11 matches, and is 11-1 overall and 4-0 in the league. Maloney has won 10 straight and is 12-1 in dual play and 4-0 in the league.
• Michigan owns a 104-19 record against Michigan State in the all-time series including a 22-2 record since 2000. The Wolverines have won 18 straight in the series, with their last loss coming in 2004.
