ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- This Sunday (May 1), the No. 6-ranked University of Michigan rowing team will celebrate its annual Senior Day regatta by welcoming the University of Louisville to Belleville Lake for a set of morning races. Following the morning slate, the program will honor its 15 seniors after their final home event as Wolverines. The public celebration of the Class of 2022 will take place at the boathouse.
Following the Big Ten Invitational (April 15-16), the Maize and Blue are deep in preparations for the postseason run. In Florida, the team found its rhythm, producing big wins and tight races against some of the nation's top programs that they will undoubtedly race again at the NCAA Championships in May. Sunday's races will be another evaluation point for a team that hopes to continue its streak atop the Big Ten.
U-M and Louisville will compete a six-race session, including two varsity eight events, three varsity fours and a novice/third varsity eight race. U-M is loading up the final two events with three boats in each race and will have in excess of 60 athletes donning the maize and blue this weekend.

THINGS TO KNOW
• Sunday's regatta marks Senior Day for U-M's Class of 2022. The following student-athletes will be honored: Madelyn Ball, Kate Burns, Hadley Camp, Victoria Cooke, Emma Luniewicz, Caroline McGee, Lillian Mei, Kaitlin Nemeh, Samantha Perlman, Charlotte Powers, Lauren Sickmiller, Cecilia Spesia, Noa Sreden and Kathryn Ward.
• This group is among the most decorated in program history. Most have been part of multiple Big Ten medal-winning boats, leading to consecutive Big Ten Championships for the first time in more than 15 years. They have been part of three top-10 NCAA-finishing teams, including two in the top five.
• This group has propelled U-M to currently rank No. 6 in the CRCA/USRowing Coaches' Poll.
• In total, the Big Ten is represented with four teams presently ranked in the top 20 nationally, including U-M, No. 10 Ohio State, No. 17 Rutgers and No. 18 Indiana.
• U-M's opponent this weekend, Louisville, is receiving the most votes of any program not currently ranked in the top 20.
• This will be the Wolverines' second weekend this season competing against Louisville. During the team's spring training trip in Caryville, Tennessee, the Cardinals and Wolverines competed in a scrimmage piece.
• A full half (10) of the ranked field was in Sarasota, Florida, in U-M's last outing, at Nathan Benderson Park for the Big Ten Invitational (April 15-16). Ranked programs included (rankings as of competition): No. 2 Stanford, U-M, No. 7 Brown, No. 8 Ohio State, No. 10 Duke, No. 12 Virginia, No. 17 Rutgers, No. 18 Tennessee, No. 19 Washington State, and No. 20 Indiana.
• The Maize and Blue's top boats have had mixed success so far this spring, but last outing's results were the most encouraging of the spring so far. U-M has raced with many of the top teams it will face at the NCAA Championships next month already and the Wolverine boats are peaking at the right time.
• The varsity four boats are rowing as well as they have all season, coming off a weekend sweep at the Big Ten Invitational (April 15-16).
• Both novice eights have also been rowing well. They also completed a sweep (of six races) in Sarasota.
• When U-M hosted Texas on April 9, it also held a special post-race event: the signing of Charlie Carino to the Wolverine program through Team IMPACT.
