
Michigan Dance Squad Earns Top-Eight Finishes at UDA Dance Team Nationals

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The University of Michigan dance team earned a pair of top-eight finishes in the Division IA jazz and hip-hop competitions at the United Dance Association Dance Team National Championship held Saturday and Sunday (Jan. 14-15) at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. The Wolverines marked a fifth-place finish in the jazz category and eighth-place in hip-hop.
On Saturday (Jan. 14), the Wolverines qualified for jazz finals in fifth place and hip-hop in eighth place. In Sunday's (Jan. 15) finals, the Wolverines maintained their positions, finishing fifth in jazz and eighth in hip-hop.
The jazz title was taken home by Minnesota, with Ohio State coming in second.
In hip-hop, U-M was the top Big Ten team in the competition in a group led by UNLV, which took home the trophy.
The Wolverines entered the weekend after an intense stretch of training. U-M adjusted to a busy schedule that included traveling for the U-M football team's Big Ten Championship game and its College Football Playoff appearance at the Fiesta Bowl, in addition to U-M men's and women's basketball contests.
