LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Sophomores Riley Ammenhauser and Savannah Sutherland and junior Ziyah Holman set meet and facility records in their respective events on Saturday (Jan. 28) as the University of Michigan women's track and field team closed out the second day of the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational at the Norton Healthcare Sport and Learning Center.
Ammenhauser's standout performance in the triple jump set a career best, meet record, facility record and Michigan record. Jumping 13.13 meters (43 feet, 1 inch), she improved on her previous best, set last week, by more than a foot. Saturday's jump beat her closest competitor by nearly a foot. Nadia Saunders took sixth, leaping 12.24m (40 feet, 2 inches).
Sutherland won the 200-meter dash in 23.66 seconds to shave three-hundredths of a second off her time from two weeks ago and set a new career best as well as a facility and meet record. Holman (fourth, 23.99), Sophie Isom (eighth, 24.41), Hanna Hearn (16th, 24.66), Trinity Henderson (18th, 24.74), and Aasia Laurencin (20th, 24.77) also made a strong showing in the event. Isom, Hearn, and Laurencin set career bests alongside Sutherland.
In the 400 meters, Holman -- who holds both the Michigan indoor and outdoor records at the distance -- ran 53.30 to set facility and meet records.
Graduate student Anna Juul ran a career-best 2:09.60 in the 800 meters, a one-second improvement on her previous best. Lauren Fulcher and Amber Gall took seventh and 14th, respectively. Fulcher ran 2:11.65, and Gall ran 2:14.28.
In the field events, Corinne Jemison heaved the shot put 15.42m (50 feet, 7.25 inches) to take fifth in the 35-thrower field.
The Wolverines will be on the road next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 3-4) at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. Start times for both days are to be announced.
