
Big Ten's Top-Serving Teams to Square Off in Bloomington

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan volleyball team (3-13, 1-6 Big Ten) heads on the road to Bloomington for a match against Indiana on Saturday (Oct. 14) at 7 p.m. at Wilkinson Hall. The match will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• Michigan currently sits at 3-13 overall and 1-6 in Big Ten) play after a 1-2 homestand, defeating Northwestern (Oct. 6) and losses to No. 2 Nebraska (Oct. 7) and No. 24 Minnesota on Wednesday night (Oct. 11). The win over Northwestern was the first conference win under head coach Erin Virtue.
• In the Big Ten, Michigan ranks in the top three of three categories -- aces per set, team attacks per set and team service aces. The Wolverines have 104 service aces on the season for 1.86 per set. Their 104 total aces rank third in the conference and the 1.86 per-set average ranks second overall. Indiana leads the Big Ten in aces per set (1.91) and team service aces (132). U-M also ranks third in attacks per set at 34.02.
• Five players in the Big Ten have had six service aces or more in a match this season with Michigan having three of them. Most recently, Valentina Vaulet had six aces in U-M's four-set win over Northwestern. Kendall Murray leads the team in aces with 21 and had six in a five-set loss to Bowling Green. Lydia Johnson has the most for a member of the Big Ten conference with seven in a match, accomplished in her career debut in a win over Sacred Heart.
• Senior Murray leads the Wolverines in kills and aces and is third in digs. She has 145 kills with a 2.59 per-set average. Over the homestand, she led the team with 25 total kills and led the team in two matches with 13 against the Wildcats and seven against the Gophers. Murray is third on the team in digs with 129 and needs just 15 more to set a new career high.
• In the match against Minnesota on Wednesday, all 13 active players saw action. Seven different Wolverines registered kills in the match, while nine tallied digs. Freshmen Lydia Johnson, Morgan Burke and redshirt-freshman Amalia Simmons all made their first appearances in five matches since the last match at Minnesota (Sept. 29). Johnson tallied five kills and five digs, Burke tallied 11 assists and four digs, while Simmons tallied three kills.
• Scottee Johnson leads the team in assists and digs with 409 helpers and 137 digs. She is averaging 2.49 digs per set and 7.44 assists per set. Johnson is tied for third on the team in aces with 13.
• Indiana is 14-6 on the season and 4-3 in the conference. Michigan leads 45-39-1 in the all-time series with the Hoosiers. U-M's last win came via a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-9, 25-21) on Oct. 20, 2021, in Bloomington. The Hoosiers are the top-serving team in the Big Ten, also leading in aces per set and total aces. IU's Camryn Haworth leads her team and the conference at 0.68 aces per set and 47 total aces.
