
Michigan to Take On Arizona, Wisconsin at Wisconsin Tri-Meet

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 18-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team will hit the road to Madison, Wis., to take on Arizona and host Wisconsin at Soderholm Family Aquatic Center. The two-day tri-meet will get underway on Friday (Oct. 20) at 4 p.m. CDT, and the second session take place Saturday (Oct. 21) at 9:30 a.m. CDT.
Notes
• Michigan checks in at No. 18 in the first edition of the College Swim & Dive Coaches Association of America poll. Wisconsin ranks 22nd while Arizona is receiving votes in the national rankings.
• Michigan will face Arizona for the first time since the 2006-07 campaign with the Wildcats leading 3-1 in the all-time series. U-M will collide with Wisconsin for the 52nd time in program history and holds a 47-4 lead in the series history with the Badgers. Last year, the Wolverines took down UW at Canham Natatorium by a score of 164-134.
• The Wolverines opened the 2023-24 season on Sept. 29 with the Be Better; Invitational at Canham. In the non-scoring meet, U-M took the top spot in every event and swept the podium in four events.
• Senior Bence Szabados got his season off to a solid start, winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 19.78 and helping U-M to two relay victories at the Be Better; Invitational.
• Gal Groumi captured two individual podium spots in the 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard freestyle and grabbed two relay wins in the season opener.
• Cameron Gammage led the way for the Wolverine divers at the Be Better; Invitational, winning the one-meter event with 315.05 points.
• Freshman Maciej Gabrys made an impact in his collegiate debut on Sept. 29 by placing second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.20.
