MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team is tied for 18th place after day one at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday (March 22) at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.
The quartet of Wyatt Davis, Brendan Fitzpatrick, Gal Groumi and Bence Szabados kicked off the night in the 200-yard relay and finished tied for 17th to just miss out on scoring points with a time of 1:23.35.
The team of Groumi, Eitan Ben-Shitrit, Davis and Eduardo Moraes swam its way to a 15th-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay in 6:15.05 to score Michigan's four points on the evening.
The Wolverines will return to the pool Thursday (March 23) for day two of the NCAA Championships at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. Prelims start at 10 a.m. CDT, and finals begin at 6 p.m. CDT.
