CARYVILLE, Tenn. -- Nearing the end of its annual spring training trip, the University of Michigan rowing team raced against Louisville on Saturday (March 4) on Lake Norris near the team's Caryville, Tennessee, training location.
The Wolverines went head-to-head with the Cardinals' varsity eight boats and varsity four boats in two pieces. In the morning, the teams competed in an extended workout, a 6.2k head race. Both teams came back for a shorter sprint piece (500-meter start piece) in the afternoon.
The coaching staff was pleased to see the team race competitively while going against an opposing boat for the first time since the fall.
"Overall, it was a productive day," said head coach Mark Rothstein. "We got some good work in and it was fun for us to race with Louisville. Today has been a good finishing note to what has been a really awesome spring training trip overall."
U-M returns to Ann Arbor before classes resume on Monday (March 6) to continue training on campus. Competition picks back up on April 1, when U-M heads to Charlottesville, Virginia, to race Duke and Virginia.
