
Michigan to Open 2023 Season With Home Contests vs. Loyola Marymount, Cal Baptist

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's soccer team (0-0) opens its 2023 season Thursday (Aug. 24) at 7 p.m. when it welcomes Loyola Marymount (0-0) to U-M Soccer Stadium. The Wolverines then host California Baptist (0-0) on Sunday (Aug. 27) at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on B1G+.

Notes
• Michigan returns 16 letterwinners from the 2022 season, including Moshtaba Al-Hasnawi and Uriel Zeitz, who will use their fifth year with the Wolverines.
• U-M welcomes 15 newcomers, adding 12 freshmen and three transfers to the roster. The transfers include graduate student Riley Ferch, senior Nick Bourgeois and junior Charlie Lawrence.
• Head coach Chaka Daley enters his 12th season at the helm of the U-M program. He carries a 90-80-34 overall record and has led the Wolverines to the NCAA Tournament on four occasions.
• Assistant coach Jhojan Obando has been named the recruiting coordinator, while former volunteer coach Mauro Fuzetti has been elevated to an assistant coach.
• Seniors Bryce Blevins and Quin Rogers along with junior Jason Bucknor were named Big Ten Players to Watch. Blevins has appeared in 46 career matches with 38 starts, while Rogers has started 37 matches and Bucknor has anchored the backline in 20 matches.
• Blevins was named the 2023 captain as he ranked second for the Wolverines with seven points in the 2022 season and had a team-best five assists.
