
U-M Comes Up Short against Indiana

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 18-ranked University of Michigan men's soccer team fell to the Indiana Hoosiers, 5-0, on Tuesday (Oct. 15) at U-M Soccer Stadium.
Indiana outshot Michigan 10-9 and generated five corner kicks. The loss marked the first shutout of the season for the Maize and Blue.
Indiana (6-3-5, 4-1-2 Big Ten) started strong as Justin Weiss headed home the first goal off a corner kick, putting the Hoosiers ahead 1-0 in the fifth minute. They doubled their lead in the 16th minute and added a third in the 31st minute. Indiana closed the first half with its fourth goal in the 43rd minute when Quinton Elliot finished a long run with a strike into the back of the net.
Michigan (6-2-4, 1-2-3 Big Ten) tried to get back into the match as Kamau Brame and Nicholas Cassiday combined for three shots in the first 10 minutes of the second half. The Wolverines fired four more shots, but none found the target. Michael Nesci added another score for the Hoosiers as they claimed a 5-0 victory and three conference points.
Up next, Michigan will look to bounce back as it heads to Evanston, Ill., to take on Northwestern on Friday (Oct. 18) at 7 p.m. CT.
