PEORIA, Ill. -- The No. 14-ranked University of Michigan men's cross country team earned a fourth-place finish at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday (Oct. 18) at the Newman Golf Course in the first of a pair of weekend meets for the Wolverines.
North Dakota State (139) finished first, while Kentucky (160) finished second. Iowa's third-place finish (165) and Wichita State's fifth-place finish (177) rounded out the top five.
Kyler McNatt was the lead U-M runner through the first two kilometers, sitting in 34th place ahead of Henry Johnson(35th).
The Wolverines were in second place in the team standings at the halfway point of the race, with Peter Baracco jumping 43 spots to No. 11 after sitting in 54th place at the 2K mark. McNatt also moved up, coming in at No. 15, and Owen MacKenzie was just behind him at No. 20.
Baracco moved into fifth place and McNatt dropped to 17th with the final kilometer left. MacKenzie dropped to 52nd place, while Riley Flemington (56th) and Johnson (69th) helped pace the Maize and Blue to sit at No. 3 in the team standings.
The first Wolverine to cross the finish line was Baracco, running a personal-best 24:04.19 for a ninth-place finish. McNatt remained in 17th place as he crossed the finish line, also posting a personal best (24:15.80).
Johnson finished in 52nd place (24:37.15) while Flemington finished in 60th place (24:40.52), both posting personal-best times, for a fourth-place U-M finish in the team standings.
On Saturday (Oct. 19) at 10:40 a.m. CDT, the Maize and Blue will compete in the second of the weekend's two races -- the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals at the Zimmer Championship Course in Madison, Wis.
