ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 14-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team earned its first wins of the season over Notre Dame and No. 15 Wisconsin with scores of 279-68 and 238-115, respectively, on Saturday (Oct. 19) in Canham Natatorium.
Michigan continued its dominance in the relays with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of Casey Chung, Lindsay Flynn, Brady Kendall and Letitia Sim clocked a 1:37.51 to kick off the second session on a high note.
Rebecca Diaconescu outraced the field in the 500-yard freestyle, posting a time of 4:49.67 and finishing nearly three seconds ahead of the nearest competitor. First-year swimmer Marian Ploger took third with a time of 4:53.70.
Flynn claimed her first individual win of the session with a first-place time of 49.19 in the 100-yard freestyle. Claire Newman and Kendall completed the sweep by taking second and third, respectively.
Sim earned her first individual win in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:00.50.
Michigan wrapped up the tri-meet with a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Stephanie Balduccini, Flynn, Leila Fack, and Newman posted a time of 3:17.04, completing the sweep of the relay events.
Next up, Michigan will host Oakland on Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. in Canham Natatorium for a dual meet.
