
Wolverine Women Set to Battle Oakland at Canham

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 14-ranked University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team (2-0, 1-0 Big Ten) will look to stay undefeated when it welcomes Oakland on Friday (Nov. 8) at 3 p.m. for a dual-meet showdown at Canham Natatorium. The meet will be streamed live on B1G+.
Notes
• The Maize and Blue took care of business in its first scored meet of the season, downing Notre Dame 279-68 and outlasting Wisconsin 238-115.
• Senior Lindsay Flynn has started 2024-25 strong, winning the 50-yard freestyle with a mark of 22.35. Flynn's time ranks fifth among Big Ten women's swimmers.
• Letitia Sim continues to provide a major boost for the breaststroke group, winning the 100-yard and 200-yard events against Notre Dame and Wisconsin. Sim's 100-yard time of 1:00.50 checks in at second in the conference.
• Mattea Sokolow currently leads the Big Ten in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.08. Sokolow's mark meets the NCAA provisional standard for potential qualification for the NCAA Championships.
• Natalie Kan made a strong impression against the Badgers and Fighting Irish, winning the 100-yard butterfly by touching the wall with 53.36 seconds on the clock. Kan's time ranks sixth in the conference.
• Rebecca Diaconescu has shown promise in the distance events, highlighted by a win in the 500-yard freestyle last time out, posting a mark of 4:49.67.
• Michigan and Oakland will meet for the 20th time in series history with the Wolverines leading 18-1. The two schools last met during the 2022-23 season, and the Maize and Blue emerged victorious, 160-97.
