
First-Place Finishes from Law, McFarland Pace U-M at GVSU Holiday Open

ALLENDALE, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's track and field team opened the 2024-25 season Friday (Dec. 6), with the distance squad competing at the GVSU Holiday Open at the Kelly Family Sports Center.
In U-M's first race of the day, Akili Parekh finished fifth (14:39.08) in his heat of the 5,000-meter run. Kepler Huntress finished ninth in the 400-meter dash (49.35 seconds).
Camden Law and Trent McFarland both earned first-place finishes, with Law recording a time of 4:09.45 in the mile run and McFarland posting a time of 8:11.52 in the 3,000-meter run. Henry Johnson also ran the 3,000-meter, finishing sixth (8:23.62).
Nathan Lopez and Ian Hill ran in the 5,000-meter invite section to close out the day, finishing eighth (14:11.79) and 13th (14:20.50), respectively.
Michigan will open 2025 at home hosting the Wolverine Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 11 at the U-M Indoor Track Building.
