
U-M to Open Road Slate at Meyo Invitational

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team will hit the road for its first away competition of the season, heading to South Bend, Ind., for the Notre Dame Meyo Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Feb. 2-3). Action is set to begin at 4 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 2) and 11 a.m. on Saturday (Feb. 3).
Notes
• The Maize and Blue closed out a three-meet homestand last weekend at the Michigan Invitational, with Aasia Laurencin's 60-meter hurdle performance (8.11 seconds) breaking the facility record and leading the team's effort.
• Sidney Green continued to impress in her debut season, taking second in the 200-meter dash and running the 10th-fastest time in program history (24.23). She also set a personal best to win the 400-meter dash (54.71) for the 10th-fastest time in program history.
• Clare McNamara had an impressive pentathlon performance, scoring a personal-best 3,691 points, just six shy of tying the 10th best score in program history. She also earned career bests in the shot put (13.07m/42 feet, 10.75 inches) and high jump (1.63m/5 feet, 4.25 inches).
• The throwers also had a strong day, taking four of the top-five spots in the shot put. Maria Deaviz finished first with a mark of 16.70m (54 feet, 9.5 inches), Corinne Jemison finished second (16.02m/52 feet, 6.75 inches), Trinity Franklin finished third with a mark of 15.29m (50 feet, 2 inches) and Elizabeth Tapper placed fifth (14.93m/48 feet, 11.75 inches). Deaviz, Franklin and Tapper each set a personal best, with Deaviz and Franklin also earning the second- and ninth-best marks in program history, respectively. Tapper was just 0.05m (2 inches) shy of tying the 10th-best program mark.
• Gabi Newman set a personal best in the high jump (1.71m/5 feet, 7.25 inches) and finished second, while Kaitlin McHale tied her career best with a 3.85m mark (12 feet, 7.5 inches) to finish second in the pole vault.
