
Tapper Throws for Top-10 Shot Put Mark in Program History

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team concluded its regular-season home slate for the indoor season on Friday (Feb. 16) with the Silverston Invitational.
The throws had an impressive day, going 1-2-3-4 and seeing two personal bests in the shot put. Elizabeth Tapper led the effort, throwing a personal-best 15.84m (51-11.75) for the No. 7 best mark in program history. Corinne Jemison finished second (15.62m), Trinity Franklin finished third (15.29m) and Clare McNamara finished fourth with a personal-best mark of 13.13m (43-1.0).
Cate Visscher finished second in the pole vault, clearing 3.85m (12-7.25) on the first attempt, while Maya Anderson finished second in the long jump with a personal-best mark of 5.52m (18-1.5).
In the 400-meter dash, Susan Bansbach earned a second-place finish (57.78) in her Maize and Blue debut while Meredith Soule saw a season-best time of 59.37 for a sixth-place finish.
The Wolverines took the top two spots in the 600-meter run as Lucy Petee finished first with a personal best of 1:34.36 and Hannah Pricco finished second (1:34.92). In the mile run, Ainsley Workman finished sixth (5:11.19) and Abby Bonnema finished eighth (5:15.54).
U-M also took the top two spots in the 3000-meter run, with Caroline Vance finishing first (10:14.46) and Natalie Desarbo finishing second (10:19.34).
The Maize and Blue will close out its regular-season indoor slate with the Alex Wilson Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Saturday, Feb. 17.
