
U-M to Travel to Oklahoma for Showdown with Top-Ranked Sooners

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 7-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team (9-4) will conclude its four-meet road stretch when it travels to No. 1 Oklahoma (19-0) on Friday (March 1) for a 6:15 p.m. CST meet at the Lloyd Noble Center. The meet will be broadcast live on ESPN2.
Notes
• The Wolverines head into week nine ranked seventh nationally and inside the top 15 in all four events. Michigan ranks third on floor exercise and sixth on the balance beam while coming in at No. 13 on the uneven bars and 14 on the vault. Individually, Sierra Brooks ranks second on floor, eighth on uneven bars and fifth in the all-around, while also ranking 11th on beam and 15th on vault. Gabby Wilson ranks inside the top 25 as she is 13th on the floor and in the all-around, 21st on beam and 25th on vault, while Carly Bauman ranks 18th on the uneven bars.
• After its win at the Big Five Meet (Feb. 24), the Wolverines secured their spot in the second session of the Big Ten Championships on the campus of Michigan State on March 23.
• Following some injuries in the Michigan lineup, the Wolverines have used depth as Bauman competed in the all-around for the first time and Paige Thaxton competed on floor at the Big Five Meet. Farah Lipetz and McCaleigh Marr also debuted on bars in the past two weekends. Bauman competed on vault for the first time in her career and scored a 9.750 and earned a 39.425 in the all-around after she notched a 9.925 on the uneven bars, and matching 9.875s on beam and floor. Sophomore Paige Thaxton competed in the floor lineup for the first time at the Big Five Meet after an exhibition routine against Rutgers the week prior. The sophomore stepped into the role and posted a 9.875 in her Wolverines debut.
• Senior Reyna Guggino put together a huge meet for the Wolverines at the Big Five Meet, winning the vault title with a 9.950 and tied a career-best 9.925 on floor, also scoring a 9.850 on the beam.
• U-M wrapped up a five-part series, Michigan Made, which is an all-access look at the months leading up to the Wolverines' 2024 campaign. Weaving interviews with coaches and student-athletes with behind-the-scenes practice footage and a look at life outside the gym the five-episode series gives an unparalleled look into the historic program and those committed to continuing the winning legacy of Michigan Women's Gymnastics.
